The eye cream from TARAMAR is unique – developed with pure, active ingredients that reduce puffiness, smooth fine lines, and give the eye area a fresh and revitalized glow.

The TARAMAR scientific team has developed new methods to isolate bioactive compounds from marine sources and encapsulate them in natural carriers (liposomes) that deliver the compounds into the deeper layers of the skin. The results are surprising — and can bring immense joy!

CHOOSING NATURAL PRODUCTS MATTERS
Actress María Ellingsen is well known for her elegance and beautiful appearance. She started using TARAMAR products two years ago and has continued ever since, saying she’s seen a significant improvement in her skin.

“I started using TARAMAR products two years ago, and it wasn’t long before my skin looked so good that I no longer needed to wear foundation on a daily basis,” says María when asked when and why she fully switched to the TARAMAR line.

“It feels good to know that these creams contain only a few, carefully selected ingredients — all healthy and safe for the body. I use the full routine: the serum and day cream in the morning, and the cleansing oil, serum, and night cream in the evening.”

An edible sunscreen product

Many chemicals present in beauty products such as parabens or phthalates cause undesirable toxic effects in humans and the environment. Even UV filter molecules present in sunscreen creams designed to protect against sunlight exposure are absorbed by the body causing disruptive effects on the endocrine system.

To address this issue, the EU-funded TARASÓL project developed an innovative sunscreen formulation that is purely organic and risk-fee. The filter has been designed, developed and commercialised by the Icelandic company Taramar(opens in new window). As founder and CEO of Taramar, Prof. Gudrun Marteinsdottir explains, “TARASÓL is the result of years of basic research in marine biology and nutritional science leading to novel knowledge on the functional properties of seaweed.″

TARAMAR Icelandic purity for your skin

TARAMAR is an Icelandic skincare brand that has opened a stylish boutique at Hafnartorg, in the heart of Reykjavik. The products are the brainchild of Gudrún Marteinsdóttir (Rúna), a professor at the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Iceland, and her husband, Dr Kristberg Kristbergsson, professor emeritus in food science at the same university.

TARAMAR was founded in 2010 whev the couple, Rúna and Kristbergur,
decided to utilize their over 30 years of scientific experience, in marine ecology on one hand and food science on the other, to develop 100% toxin-free, natural, and organic skincare products. “When I was in my fifties, I started
noticing certain signs of aging on my own skin,” Rúna explains. “I wasn’t actually looking for a new project, being a full-time professor at the University of Iceland. However, I was searching for a good moisturizer, that could protect
the skin against the elements while I was out at sea,” she says with a smile.
